Who are we looking for?

As a Technical Inspector you

  • Respect and enforce the safety-related internal guidelines, regulations and legal requirements when carrying-out the safety critical tasks, and follow the safety-related trainings and the certification path linked to the function;
  • Guarantee the necessary diesel locomotive data in the locomotive management system, for those locomotives for which we are ECM (Entity in charge of maintenance);
  • Safeguard wagon & locomotive safety through targeted on-site inspections and assistance during mandatory audits, both internal and external (i.e. at the workshops and suppliers of critical components);
  • Take initiatives to optimize the diesel locomotive reliability and that way maximizing the MTTE;
  • Guarantee optimal technical support to maintenance suppliers

What are your duties?

  • Act as first point of contact for internal and external parties (workshops, stations, customers) with respect to technical aspects of the Lineas locomotive fleet, ensure clear communication and escalate in case of problems;
  • Prepare and execute on-site inspections, contradictory expertises, audits of workshops and spare parts suppliers and REX meetings with maintenance providers;
  • Assure adequate administration of locomotive data and locomotive maintenance data in the locomotive management system;
  • Propose improvements to maintenance processes and procedures based on all information available;
  • Standardize the procedures and processes to allow an objective evaluation of the performance of the different maintenance providers;
  • Challenge maintenance suppliers in the quality of the maintenance delivered, work out and implement (joint) improvements to increase quality and cost-efficiency;

Specific activities for Technical Inspector

  • Determine and manage the required asset data and asset maintenance data and record the relevant necessary information flows;
  • Daily follow up of the locomotive maintenance with respect to the actual maintenance state, accompanying documentation and workshop performance;
  • Draw up Terms of Reference (ToR) documents (i.e. maintenance specification for a certain revision) and ECM instructions for revision, preventive and corrective maintenance;
  • Perform on site locomotive quality inspections (LIR) and inspections in the workshops, in order to monitor whether the maintenance activities are executed corresponding to the specifications (ToR and instructions) and report technical defects to the workshop;
  • Check whether the performed maintenance corresponds with the order and resulting invoice and report errors on scope (order) and cost (invoice) to the workshop and the Framework Coordinator;
  • Assist in audits organised by Head of Asset Maintenance Procurement with focus on safety and technical quality;
  • Investigate incidents, accidents and damages to diesel locomotives;
  • Study technical problems and repeated failures occurring on the locomotives and propose solutions to improve the operational reliability;
  • Offer solutions to the workshops for problems that arise during the maintenance of the locomotives by being single point of contact for technical questions;
  • Make up risk analyses with respect to locomotive maintenance;
  • Carry out contradictory inspections on transfer / return for rental of T77 locomotives;
  • Optimize reliability of the diesel locomotives based on (preparation of and participation in) REX meetings with suppliers by in-depth (vertical) analyses of incidents, accidents, recurring damage, on-site inspections and maintenance work carried out;
  • Align and assist Lineas colleagues from Lineas Production Systems, where Regulation Drivers will be integrated as SME (Subject Matter expert), on the needed trainings/MDM/e-loc app modifications to improve the knowledge of train drivers in troubleshooting and repair techniques for T77 locomotives based on ?tips and tricks? coming from maintenance experience;
  • Search relevant data and information to be able to answer technical questions of other Asset Maintenance colleagues (e.g. spare parts manager);
  • Respect and enforce the safety-related internal guidelines, regulations and legal requirements when carrying-out the safety critical tasks, and follow the safety-related trainings and the certification path linked to the function;

What is your profile?

  • You have experience with technical inspections of assets, 
  • You have affinity with safety-related regulations and guidelines;
  • You are not afraid to get your hands (and pants) dirty, as you will perform regular workshop visits;
  • You are proactive and communicative;
  • You are fluent in English and either Dutch or French
